How about Groovy Booby supporting community services? Profits from each bottle support community service projects in the areas of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education!

Why Breast Oil?

"Breast skin is thin and absorbent, and breast tissue contains a great deal of fat, which readily absorbs infused herbal oils. The healing and cancer-preventing actions of herbs easily migrate into olive oil-creating a simple, effective product for maintaining breast health. Whether you want to maintain breast health—or have had a diagnosis of cancer—infused herbal oils and ointments are soothing, safe, and effective allies.”

Ingredients

Groovy Booby Breast & Body Care Oil* is lovingly hand made with organic cold pressed extra virgin olive oil (inherently anti-inflammatory) slowly infused in glass vessels with our own organic farm-grown, ribgrass plantain, calendula and yarrow flowers. Essential oils of lavender and wintergreen are added.

Dayempur Herbals uses organic and locally grown ingredients. Our products are handmade in the rolling hills of Southern Illinois, at Dayempur Farm in Anna, Illinois. Our land has been free from chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides for generations, and we plant, grow and harvest our herbs without them.

Plantain has been long used topically as a breast cancer preventative. Plantains ability to draw out infection (and thorns, splinters or other foreign material) is reported often as remarkable. It is also claimed to be powerful first aid for radiation burns, antifungal treatment and a topical pain reliever. It has a long history of use as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, making it useful for bruises, bug bites, swellings, scarring, strained ligaments, muscles or tendons, rashes and skin irritations.

“With its brilliant color and its solid reputation as a breast cancer preventive, plantain oil/ointment is another favorite for breast self massage. Frequent applications of the jewel-green oil – as many as ten times a day – have been used successfully by women to reverse in situ cancer cells in the breasts.”

Susun Weed, Herbal Oils for Breast Self-Massage

Yarrow has long been used for swollen, tender breasts and nipples. It’s astringent properties are considered ideal for soothing inflammation, including breast infection in its earliest stages. It is a traditional herb with a long history of use for stopping blood flow from wounds, healing bruises, swellings, strains, soft tumor-like growths, sciatica, rashes and skin irritations.

Calendula oil is often indicated to prevent infection, treat scar tissue and adhesions, and is used before, during and after radiation treatment to protect delicate tissues. Calendula is gentle, cooling and soothing, helpful for all skin inflammations. A good remedy for dry and damaged skin, rashes, and for those with sensitive skin.

When to Use

Groovy Booby Breast & Body Care Oil* is intended for everyday use or as needed. A one ounce bottle can last up to three months with daily use. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Shake or tilt the bottle gently before using. At least once a day (e.g., after shower, when taking off your bra, or before bedtime) place several drops to a dropper full into the palm of your hand. The amount you’ll need will depend on the size of your breasts. Rub your hands together to create warmth and loving energy.

With both hands, gently massage one breast at a time: round and round, up and down, lift and press…just do your best! Massage underneath your breasts, across your ribs, to stimulate the all important bra line. If you’re not shy, your breasts may even blush, a sign of circulation!

Use Groovy Booby freely during pregnancy. While breast feeding, use our sister product Breast Friend. We do not recommend the use of Groovy Booby while nursing because of the essential oils, which have strong natural components, and may confuse or be overpowering to babys sense of taste and smell. Breast Friend is made exactly the same way as Groovy Booby, only without any essential oils (just a touch of vitamin E added).

Other Uses

The natural anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing properties of Groovy Booby Breast & Body Care Oil* make it quite versatile. We’ve received positive reviews from women who have experimented with Groovy Booby as a:

Soothing abdominal rub for fibroids and uterine cysts
Balm for muscle aches, arthritis and swollen joints
♥   Soothing remedy for skin inflammations, sunburn, fungal dermatitis and adult acne
Anti-itch for chigger and mosquito bites!

During Pregnancy

Use Groovy Booby as a belly and breast balm freely during pregnancy. While breast feeding, use our sister product Breast Friend. Same ingredients as Groovy Booby without any essential oils (just a touch of vitamin E added).

Before and After Breast Surgery

Using the right kind of touch at the appropriate time, Groovy Booby oill can be used as a healing ally to help you relax, recuperate swiftly and stay connected before and following breast surgery (mastectomy, lumpectomy, breast reconstruction, reduction, augmentation or other breast surgery).

Before Surgery: Groovy Booby can be massaged into the chest, neck, back and shoulder area to help loosen chest wall muscles, sooth nerves and release tension. This will help reduce post-surgery aches and pains, which often result from time spent in the required surgical position. Such proactive care can help you comfort your body, mind and soul and ease you through a difficult transition, regardless of the reason for your surgery.

After Surgery: Always seek permission and support from your medical team before introducing herbal oils into your post-surgical plan. Wait at least two weeks after surgery before touching your surgical side. If after two weeks you are having no complications, this is the time to apply Groovy Booby with your most loving and light touch–not to stimulate circulation or massage the surgical site–but to promote healing, relaxation and reduce discomfort in the peripheral area. Simply holding your hand over the surgical area with loving intention is often enough. Never apply Groovy Booby to an open wound.

Avoid firm or deep pressure on the surgical side, especially if you have had lymph nodes removed. Gentle and light touch is the key to healing after breast surgery. You may apply more firm pressure to your non-surgical side. If you have had lymph nodes removed, in addition to using very light pressure, avoid the surgical-side under arm area. Above all, stay in communication with and follow the advice and guidance of your health care team; they are familiar with your unique situation.

If You Have Breast Implants

Breast massage will either be prescribed or contraindicated (not recommended) depending on the type of surgery and the advice of your surgeon.  Ask your doctor when it is okay to use massage after your type of breast implant surgery.

Treating Scars

Wait for sutures to be removed and tenderness to dissipate before touching scars. Whether scars are from Caesarean section, breast surgery or another cause, they are a part of you and require healing. Scars hold emotions. A friend, counselor or support group may assist you emotionally. The appropriateness of touching scars will be unique to each individual and must consider comfort level and healing progress.

Remember, scar tissue is not bad. In fact, it is needed to cement an implant or joint replacement. It is the overgrowth of scar tissue that causes problems. Keloid scars are the only scars you do not want to overtly massage. They are red, rope like, tough and thick, and too often do not respond positively to massage.  It is never too late to work on all other scars, even years later.

Scars often become very prominent at first, and then fade. The first two weeks to three months, after sutures are removed and tenderness dissipates, the surgical site remains soft and can be lightly massaged. With breast surgery, after about three months, scar tissue adheres to the chest wall.

Incision healing results in the sensation of deep itching, a loss of sensitivity, and numbness. Massaging scar tissue, according to your personal comfort level (except in the case of keloids), increases blood flow to the surrounding areas and promotes lymphatic drainage. Drainage site scars can hurt more than the surgical scar.

As a part of your personal care routine, enjoy Groovy Booby All Natural Breast Care Oil. If you have had breast surgery, be sure to include some portion of your surgical side in your daily massage as appropriate. This promotes connectivity and completeness, a needed experience in feeling whole. Follow guidelines as appropriate to your healing progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who can use Groovy Booby?

A.  Groovy Booby is designed for women of all ages. Large breasts, small breasts, one breast or two breasts, breast implants, bras or braless, Groovy Booby nourishes with gentle, safe, herbal ingredients. Men also use Groovy Booby for bug bites, sore muscles, aches, and, to offer breast massage to their girlfriend or wife!

Q. Can I use  Groovy Booby while breast feeding?

A.  Groovy Booby contains essential oils, not recommended for the nursing breast (let’s not confuse baby with the taste and smell). Use our sister product “Breast Friend,” the essential-oil-free version of Groovy Booby. And, see our resources page for  information on naturally easing sore breasts and nipples during breastfeeding.

Q. Any reason I should not use  Groovy Booby?

A. Follow these common sense guidelines:  Groovy Booby is intended for topical use only, not for consumption. Do not apply  Groovy Booby to an open wound. Avoid the use of  Groovy Booby if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you have sensitive skin, test on a small area before liberal use. Do not use  Groovy Booby if you have a serious breast condition for which you have not sought professional medical help.  Groovy Booby is not intended to substitute for proper medical attention.

Q. How often can I use  Groovy Booby?

A.  Groovy Booby can be safely used many times daily or as needed.  Our “breast guru” Cheryl Chapman reports that women with fibrocystic breast disease who take on the challenge to massage their breasts twice daily for three months, experience virtually complete softening of their breasts and relief from associated discomfort. If you have fibrocystic breasts and choose to take the twice daily breast massage challenge, add an all natural herbal breast care oil to add extra care to your routine.

Q. Can I use  Groovy Booby if I have breast cancer?

A. Yes, but Groovy Booby is not a breast cancer treatment; it is a breast health support product designed to encourage women to perform daily breast massage.

However, massage therapy in general is excellent when appropriately applied before, during and after your cancer treatment. Massage can be very helpful for reducing scar tissue formation; to prepare you for surgery; and to relax and reconnect you through difficult times. To find a qualified massage practitioner in your area who specializes in oncology massage go to www.s4om.org and find the therapist locator. You may also read these guidelines (“Important things to consider before trying massage therapy” at the very bottom of the page) to help you when you decide to receive  massage therapy during breast cancer.

Perhaps the bigger question is, “Does massage spread cancer?” Cancer can spread with little or no activity, such as sleeping, breathing, eating, walking, etc. We believe that gentle, compassionate touch can be administered effectively without fear of spreading cancer, as long as no massage and direct pressure is applied to a traumatized area affected by cancer. Light massage may actually have a protective effect, as it keeps blood and lymph circulating and reduces stress by decreasing the stress hormone cortisol. Deep massage is never recommended for anyone with cancer at any time.

Cancer metastasizes (spreads) via the lymph and blood. The biggest constant lymph mover is respiration (breathing) and the biggest blood mover is the heart. We seriously joke that if you don’t want to spread cancer, stop breathing and don’t move! Remember, loving touch is healing by its intention. And the intention of massage during breast cancer is to connect a woman’s body, ease stress, and convey a loving, healing spirit.

Q. Can I use Intensive Breast Care (IBC) Poke Root Infused Oil if I am breast feeding?

A.  Poke root is strong and aside from its medicinal uses, it is generally considered toxic or poisonous. You may know that the seeds and roots contain the most potent constituents.  Poke roots and seeds (if broken open), when ingested beyond very miniscule therapeutic quantities, can cause severe intestinal distress, vomiting, hallucinations, and other toxic side effects.

Since we don’t want to risk any distress to baby’s tummy, the easiest way to avoid any risk is to avoid using poke infused oils while breastfeeding.  We know mom’s who wash their breast with soap and water to remove poke oil residue, and thus do choose to use it during breast feeding. And, we know there are other ways you can treat cysts, lumps and discomforts that don’t require poke root oil. Poke root homeopathic is one option (Phytolacca Decandra). For example:

Clearing the lymph can help by assisting in the removal of excessive fluids, preventing stagnation and cyst formation in the breasts.  While botanicals can assist, consider:

  • twice or more daily breast massage

  • soaking the affected breast in warm water with or without parsely or comfrey tea in it (massage the breast a time or two while soaking)

  • other means of treating the breast with heat, such as compresses or hot water bottles, preferably not heating pads

  • castor oil packs, bentonite clay packs on the breast (see the article link below for more detail)

  • reducing estrogenic chemical exposure (in your diet and environment) by avoiding contact with them as well as keeping your liver clear (e.g., avoiding: plastic food containers, including bottled water; pesticide or hormone treated meat and dairy (go organic); refraining from nail polish and remover; ridding your household of industrial detergents and using only “green” plant-based soaps, lotions,&  household cleaners; wearing natural fiber clothes over synthetics)

See Jill Stansbury, N.D.’s great article on botanicals for fibrocystic breasts (which are the same principles that cause a single larger cyst).

* This product is not intended to cure, treat or prevent disease. Results may vary depending on the individual. Excellent results have been reported by users of this product. See your health care practitioner if symptoms worsen or persist for more than 48 hours.

Intensive Breast Care

Poke Root Infused Oil

Poke root is the traditional herb historically used for breast abscesses, cysts, lumps, tumors and mastitis. We’ve added essential oil of grapefruit for its refreshing and uplifting qualities.

Essential oil of grapefruit is long known for its lymph stimulating properties, making it the perfect companion to poke root oil.

Caution: Poke Root oil can cause a rash on sensitive skin. Ingesting Poke Root oil can cause severe intestinal distress. For topical use only. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, lymphatic cancer and metastasis.

Poke Root oil is too powerful for regular preventative care. Use for a duration lasting no more than 4-6 weeks. To use, apply generous amount to affected area and cover with a flannel cotton cloth and warm water bottle (not heating pad). Leave on for as long as comfortable. Repeat up to twice daily.

Size: 1 fl. oz.

Use: temporary (4-6 weeks)

Use while breastfeeding?: No
